It gets better
This was a small fold out zine design that had been picked up, scribbled on and put down for many years. Originally the focus was on the paper layout as an extra flourish for extending the narrative. However, the story changed to allow for me to put down on paper recent run ins I’d had with injury and poor health and feeling the pressure to show up or express my pain only in certain ways.
What is in a meal?
“What is in a meal?” is a question I had been thinking about and how food is more than just fuel for our bodies but also holds stories that connects us to memories, people and places.
In this zine I share how laksa and a near death experience are inextricably tied together.
Alone/together
Alone/together is a collection of images I had been playing around with during the pandemic using those to words to play around with proximity and interpersonal relationships.
Ironically for me, the pandemic was a time where I felt a lot closer to my friends, but while playing with building images around those two words I was reflecting on paradoxical experiences of connection. How sometimes you can be in a crowd of people and feel so alone, thinking of people you love can make you feel like they’re with you.
My Brother
This zine was written as an ode to my brother - like most families my relationship with my brother is complex. There is a large age gap, we are very different people and though many things separate us, our love for each other persists. My brother is the reason for many of my interests and abilities of the years; dancing, spray painting, skating and surfing to name some.
